Background History of EPI Engineering

EPI Engineering has been providing analysis and optimization services for the refining and marketing, chemical processing, petrochemicals, exploration and production, gas processing, pulp and paper, power and utilities, and food processing industries since 2002. During the period from 2002-2009 EPI Engineering operated as a fully-owned subsidiary of EPCON Software, a leading developer of engineering software products for fluid flow simulation, thermophysical properties, and physical property components.

Due to the success of the optimization services we were conducting we decided to spin EPI into its own corporation in 2009 and provide a greater range of engineering services aimed at the reduction of energy consumption and the improvement of safety and compliance. Senior EPCON executives gave each and every EPCON employee the opportunity to invest and own a piece of EPI and as of today we are proud to say that we are majority owned by EPCON Software employees. If this doesn’t indicate the relationship EPI has with EPCON we don’t know what will.

Since 2009 EPI Engineering has taken off and has conducted over 100 individual optimization projects in the past few years. It is estimated that during this time we have saved our clients over 100 million dollars in unneeded capital expenditure, energy efficiency improvements and increased facility production with no capital investments required. We recently completed our most successful project at a petroleum refinery where we increased the production of the facility by 7 million dollars per year. The impressive part of this particular project is that the one-year, return on investment (ROI) our clients will realize is 150:1.

The most popular service that we provide is our Pipeline Network Optimization (PNO) services aimed at increasing the safety and efficiency of plant and refinery utility and process systems. When optimizing the flow of these types of systems we find an array of improvement opportunities that would have not been possible without the technology and expertise provided to us by our sister company EPCON Software. We also provide flare header, PRV, and fire water system analysis and optimization services along with general engineering services including as system walk-downs and regular flowmeter testing/system monitoring.
